The appellant, Sally Gahn, was an employee in her husband's business and was covered by a group health insurance policy purchased from the appellee, Allstate Life Insurance Company (Allstate). After she was diagnosed with liver cancer, Allstate increased the premiums and ultimately cancelled the policy. Mrs. Gahn sued Allstate, arguing that the cancellation violated Louisiana law.
