During the afternoon of November 1, 1987, defendant was at home in apartment 3W at 14 W. 10th Street with his six-year-old "adopted" daughter, Lisa Steinberg, his live-in companion of over 10 years, Hedda Nussbaum, and his other "adopted" child, Mitchell, a 16-month-old boy.
