Carl D. Jones (defendant) was charged by grand jury indictment with second degree murder, LSA-R.S. 14:30.1. He pled not guilty and, after a jury trial, was found guilty of the responsive offense of manslaughter, LSA-R.S. 14:31. He received a sentence of 21 years at hard labor, with credit for time served.
