LABORDE, Judge.

On August 1, 1985, plaintiff, Louvenia Doyle, filed suit against defendants, Picadilly Cafeterias (Picadilly), and its insurer, The Aetna Casualty and Surety Company (Aetna), for damages she sustained arising out of a slip and fall accident. Plaintiff subsequently amended her petition on May 26, 1988, naming excess insurers, United States Fire Insurance Company (United States Fire), and Fireman's Fund Insurance Company as additional defendants.
