Defendant, Robert L. Baskin, was charged by indictment for attempted murder and attempted armed robbery (Ill.Rev. Stat.1973, ch. 38, par. 8-4) in September, 1974. On May 24,1976, after a jury trial in the circuit court of Cook County, he was found guilty on both counts. On June 18, 1976, he was sentenced to concurrent respective terms of 6-to-18, and 5-to-15 years of imprisonment, but remained free on bond pending...
