The appellees, Tom and Judy Hendershot, were divorced in 1983, and Judy was awarded primary custody of their child, Chancy. In 1989 the appellant, Virginia Hendershot, Chancy's great-aunt, filed a "Petition to Intervene and Other Relief" seeking to intervene in the divorce case and asking for court-ordered visitation with her grandnephew.
