The defendant entered a plea of guilty to a felony information charging one count of wire fraud. In due course the district court imposed a sentence of probation, conditioned on the performance of 1,000 hours of community service under the supervision of the probation office. The government asserts on appeal that the sentence was imposed as a result of an incorrect application of the Sentencing Guidelines promulgated by the United States Sentencing...
