MILLER, Justice:

This appeal arises from a May 12, 1989 order of the Circuit Court of Cabell County, which stayed further proceedings in a civil action brought by John T. Copley against his former employer, NCR Corporation (NCR), and ordered the dispute submitted to arbitration. Mr. Copley contends that the lower court erred in ruling that arbitration was required by 9 U.S.C. § 1, et seq., known as the United States Arbitration Act (USAA).
