Walter Washington was charged with and convicted of being a convicted felon in possession of a firearm. La.R.S. 14:95.1. He was sentenced to serve seven years at hard labor, without benefit of parole, probation or suspension of sentence. He was also fined $1,000 and, in lieu of payment thereof, was ordered to serve an additional day in jail.
