I. JURISDICTION

Defendant, Gerald Arthur Whitney, appeals his convictions for one count of kidnapping, a Class 2 felony, A.R.S. § 13-1304 and one count of aggravated assault, a Class 3 felony, A.R.S. § 13-1204(A)(2), (B). Because the aggravated assault was found to be a "dangerous nature" offense and committed while defendant was on parole, the trial court sentenced defendant to life imprisonment.
