In November 1983, Roland Mastandrea was one of three candidates for Mayor of Willoughby. During the campaign, a political flier titled "Wake Up Willoughby" was distributed by Mastandrea supporters. This handbill sparked controversy in what was already a hotly contested campaign and became the subject of newspaper articles which Mastandrea claimed were defamatory. Mastandrea claimed he had nothing to do with the printing or distribution...
