This is a prisoner civil rights case brought pursuant to 42 U.S.C. § 1983 by Jewish inmates at the State Prison of Southern Michigan ("SPSM"). They challenge a prison policy instituted in 1985 that prohibits them from congregating in weekly Sabbath services and an annual Passover Seder.
