LAGARDE, Justice.

John S. Hafley appeals his conviction by a jury for the misdemeanor offense of unlawfully carrying a weapon. Tex.Penal Code Ann. § 46.02 (Vernon 1974).1 The court set punishment at thirty days in jail, probated for one year, and a fine of $100.
