Southern Pacific Transportation Company (Southern Pacific) challenges the district court's directed verdict in favor of Shell Oil Company (Shell). Ellison, an employee of Southern Pacific, filed a personal injury action against Southern Pacific under the Federal Employers' Liability Act (FELA).
