The defendant, William Garner, was charged by bill of information with five counts of armed robbery, in violation of La.Rev.Stat. 14:64. He pled not guilty and, after trial by jury, was found guilty as charged on all five counts. For each armed robbery conviction, the defendant received a sentence of forty years at hard labor, without benefit of parole, probation, or suspension of sentence.
