On June 15, 1985, at about 12:13 P.M., the defendant was a passenger in a car traveling along Pitkin Avenue in Brooklyn. Anticrime police officers followed the car in an unmarked police vehicle. During this time, the car was seen to reach a speed of 60 miles per hour and to pass through a red light.
