Pearson-Thieman No. 1-12A (No. 12A) is an oil well in Manistee County, Michigan. It taps a pool of oil trapped by a coral reef formed during the Middle Silurian (Niagaran) Period of the Paleozoic Era, when much of Michigan was under the ocean. The northwest of Michigan's lower peninsula contains a barrier reef and many isolated pinnacle reefs; southern Michigan shows a similar pattern. See K.J...
