This is an appeal of a judgment awarding damages to a widow and children in a wrongful death action.

In 1977, Charles Michel died from drowning after he drove his pickup truck off a bridge. The bridge is located in Ascension Parish on Laurel Ridge Road, a dead-end road that intersects La. 935.
