SHEPHERD, J.

Following a jury retrial, defendant was convicted of eight counts of armed robbery, MCL 750.529; MSA 28.797, and one count of possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, MCL 750.227b; MSA 28.424(2). On each count, the jury found defendant guilty but mentally ill, MCL 768.36; MSA 28.1059. Defendant was sentenced to two years' imprisonment for the felony-firearm conviction, to be followed by concurrent sentences of twenty to forty years'...
