Eric Brown (defendant) was indicted for second degree murder, a violation of LSA-R.S. 14:30.1, in connection with the shooting death of Gregory Daniels. Defendant elected to be tried by a jury, which convicted him as charged; he was subsequently sentenced to the mandatory term of life imprisonment at hard labor, without benefit of probation, parole or suspension of sentence.
