On June 7, 1984, Clayton Watts was struck by an electric pallet jack driven by Harold Glenn in the Richmond, Virginia warehouse of The Great Atlantic & Pacific Tea Company (A & P). Watts was an independent truck owner-operator who delivered paper goods to the A & P warehouse on the day of his injury.
