The defendant was convicted by a jury of six in the District Court Department of operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of intoxicating liquor.1 The judge imposed a fine and a surfine and ordered the defendant forthwith to surrender his driver's license, pursuant to the automatic revocation provisions of G.L.c. 90, § 24 (1) (b) (1986 ed.). The judge stayed the fines pending the defendant's appeal...
