Plaintiff, Albert P. Bruno, filed an action under the Age Discrimination in Employment Act, 29 U.S.C. §§ 621-634 (1982 & Supp. III 1985) (ADEA), against his employer, Western Electric Company. In a bifurcated trial, the issue of liability was tried by a jury and submitted on special interrogatories.
