Carl Patrick Smith was charged by bill of information with attempted first degree murder, in violation of La.R.S. 14:30 and 14:27. Additionally he was indicted by the Terrebonne Parish Grand Jury for aggravated rape, in violation of La.R.S. 14:42 A(3). Defendant pled not guilty to both charges and was tried by a jury, which convicted him as charged. He was sentenced to serve a term of fifty years at hard labor for the conviction of attempted...
