Eurl Thomas, Jr., was charged by indictment with the second degree murder of George Thompson, in violation of La. R.S. 14:30.1. He pled not guilty. A first jury trial ended in a mistrial when the jurors were unable to reach a verdict. In a second jury trial, the defendant was found guilty as charged. He received the mandatory sentence of life imprisonment at hard labor without benefit of parole, probation, or suspension of sentence...
