In May 1985, an ordinance proposing to annex 800 acres to the City of Bryant was submitted to the voters in Bryant and in the area proposed to be annexed. The proposed annexation was defeated. Four months later, on September 10, 1985, another ordinance was submitted to the voters, this one increasing the area of the proposed annexation to 914 acres.
