Defendant, Willie Hilburn, was charged by grand jury indictment with the second degree murder of his wife, Annie Ruth Hilburn, in violation of La.R.S. 14:30.1. He pled not guilty and not guilty by reason of insanity. After a jury trial, defendant was found guilty of the responsive verdict of manslaughter, a violation of La.R.S. 14:31.
