The defendant, Marshall Sutton, was charged by grand jury indictment for the January 2, 1983 manslaughter of Clotile Emerson, a/k/a Clotile Carter, in violation of LSA-R.S. 14:31. The defendant was found guilty as charged after a jury trial; however, this court reversed the defendant's conviction and remanded the case for a new trial because the trial court had committed reversible error by allowing the prosecutor to use part of defendant's statement...
