Fred Crenshaw brought this action against his former employer, the Quarles Drilling Corporation (Quarles), alleging violations of the overtime provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA), 29 U.S.C. §§ 201-219. Quarles is an oil and gas contractor with mobile drilling units at sites throughout the western United States. Crenshaw was hired by Quarles as a drilling equipment mechanic on September 16, 1980.
