WALD, Circuit Judge:

Glenn I. Wright and Dennis Moss were tried jointly before a jury on several charges stemming from the kidnapping of a wealthy player from a bridge tournament in Washington, D.C. At trial, Moss testified that he carried out the abduction at the direction of Wright but asserted that he participated in the kidnapping only under duress exerted by Wright.
