Darren Kent was originally charged by a single grand jury indictment with two counts of first degree murder. After entering a plea of not guilty, Kent filed a motion to suppress his confession. The trial court denied that motion. Prior to trial on the merits, the indictment was amended to reduce each charge to second degree murder, violations of La.R.S. 14:30.1. Kent again pled not guilty and, following trial by jury, was convicted...
