HISTORY OF THE CASE

The defendant, Jean Alan Roux, was convicted of first degree murder, a violation of LSA-R.S. 14:30, for murdering his mother, Dorothy Mae Roux. The crime occurred on December 17, 1983, in Cameron, Louisiana. Roux, who was sixteen years old at the time of the crime, pleaded not guilty and not guilty by reason of insanity.
