Petitioner-appellant Joe Rollen Crockett was sentenced to life imprisonment in 1980 by a Texas jury after he pleaded guilty to burglary. Crockett now appeals from the district court's denial of his petition for a writ of habeas corpus under 28 U.S.C. § 2254 in which he challenged his sentence, claiming that he received ineffective assistance of counsel because of his counsel's failure to object to the introduction of four prior convictions...
