STATEMENT OF THE CASE:

On April 10, 1984, defendant was charged by bill of information with aggravated battery, under R.S. 14:34. On April 13, 1984, he was arraigned and pled not guilty. On May 4, 1984, defendant changed his plea to not guilty and not guilty by reason of insanity.
