We granted the application of the Monroe News Star World to determine whether the trial court erred in closing and subsequently denying access to a transcript of a hearing to determine the mental capacity to proceed of the defendant, Winthrop Earl Eaton, who is accused of first degree murder in violation of LSA-R.S. 14:30. We here consider whether the First Amendment to the United States Constitution and Article 1, Section 7 of the Louisiana...
