Opal Smith, a 57 year old woman, appeals from the district court's order affirming the final decision of the Secretary of Health and Human Services (Secretary) denying Smith social security benefits. The district court found substantial evidence on the record as a whole to support the finding of the administrative law judge (ALJ) that Smith was not disabled within the meaning of the Social Security Act, 42 U.S.C. § 423(d)(1) (1982).
