The claimant, James Winn, applied for Social Security disability benefits on January 27, 1981, when he was 35 years old. He alleged that he had been disabled since December 26, 1979, the day he last worked as a die caster. An administrative law judge (ALJ), after a hearing, determined that the impairment of the claimant's right knee prevented him from returning to his former work, but that he retained the residual functional capacity for at least sedentary...
