Rex Fisher, a tenured teacher at Lathrop High School in Fairbanks, was not rehired for the 1978-79 school year. Three reasons were given by the School Board for his non-retention: (1) violation of sick leave regulations by claiming he was sick on two days when he was actually on a trip to San Francisco; (2) violation of the District's policy against using books in class that had not been approved; and (3) violation of the School...
