The defendant, Rodney Carney, was charged with the offenses of aggravated rape, attempted aggravated rape, and aggravated burglary and was found to be guilty as charged of each offense. On the charge of aggravated rape, he was sentenced to life imprisonment at hard labor without benefit of probation, parole, or suspension of sentence, and on the charge of attempted aggravated rape, he was sentenced to life imprisonment at hard labor.
