Defendant, Frank Curtis Collatt, was charged by bill of information with two counts of attempted second degree murder pursuant to LSA-R.S. 14:27 and 14:30.1. He pleaded not guilty and not guilty by reason of insanity to both charges and, on August 2 and 3 of 1984, was tried by jury. The jury found him guilty as charged on both counts of attempted second degree murder. Subsequently, the defendant was sentenced to fifty years imprisonment, without benefit...
