The appellants, Cheryl Larson and all others similarly situated, are former employees of The Transit Authority of the City of Omaha, doing business as Metro Area Transit (MAT). On June 30, 1977, the contract between MAT and the Transport Workers Union of America Local 223 (Union), expired and the Union and MAT were unable to agree on a new contract.
