The plaintiffs, John B. Hermes and John Back, initiated this action in replevin to recover cattle. The defendants counterclaimed for pasture rent and care of cattle, and Fred Stackley, Jr., also counterclaimed for past-due wages and miscellaneous items he claimed to be due pursuant to a contract of employment.
