On January 9, 1981, appellee was discharged from his employment with the United States Postal Service ("Postal Service"). On January 12, 1981, appellee filed for unemployment benefits through the Texas Employment Commission ("TEC"), and the TEC granted benefits totaling $5,024 to be paid for the period of February 9 through July 8, 1981.
