Alvin Lovelace appeals from the district court's denial of his petition for habeas corpus under 28 U.S.C. § 2254. For reversal, Lovelace contends that his conviction was constitutionally improper because the Arkansas courts erred by permitting the jury to decide whether he had the requisite number of convictions to be classified as an habitual offender.
