On June 14, 1982, defendant was charged in a five-count indictment with the crimes of burglary in the first degree, burglary in the second degree, burglary in the third degree, grand larceny in the third degree and criminal trespass in the first degree. These charges stemmed from an incident at the Le Roy Honkomp dwelling in the Village of Oxford, County of Chenango.
