This suit commenced as a claim for workmen's compensation benefits and medical expenses alleging that the employee was totally and permanently disabled by a job-related accident. The employee filed a supplemental and amending petition alleging that the employer acted arbitrarily, capriciously and without probable cause in denying compensation benefit payments and medical expenses and sought statutory penalties...
