Mineracao da Trinidade-Samitri ("Samitri"), a Brazilian corporation, brought this action in the United States District Court for the Southern District of New York to obtain a declaratory judgment, damages, and other relief against six defendants, corporations in Brazil, Panama, and the United States ("defendants").1
