Defendant appeals by leave granted from an order of the Workers' Compensation Appeal Board (WCAB), affirming the hearing officer's determination that plaintiff was disabled by the aggravation of a back condition causally related to his employment. The WCAB modified the award as rendered by the hearing officer to include 12% interest on the accrued, but unpaid, compensation benefits due to the plaintiff.
