Defendant, Ronald Bourgeois, was charged with simple kidnapping, a violation of LSA R.S. 14:45, in connection with the abduction of a convenience store clerk. A jury convicted defendant as charged, and he was subsequently sentenced to five years at hard labor. After sentencing, defendant filed a motion for a new trial, based upon allegedly ineffective counsel, and the court ordered a hearing on the motion. The motion was denied after a full hearing...
