We granted hearing to determine whether police officers, sergeants and dispatchers are entitled, as a result of the limitations placed on their mealtime periods, to payment for overtime hours worked. That entitlement depends on whether their lunch and dinner hours are considered worktime, inasmuch as the City of Madera mandates overtime pay for those police department employees who work in excess of the normal...
